27 – Pretani Associates – Isles of Pretani Series – Ancient Peoples (Australasia)


Pretani Associates have lived and studied in Australia and have seen the sacred site of Uluru, learning the customs and lore of the Aboriginal people.
Torres Strait Islanders are the ancient people of the Torres Strait Islands, part of Queensland, Australia. They were and are a seafaring people trading with the people of Papua New Guinea.

The Papuan people are the ancient people of New Guinea and neighbouring islands. Some of their tribal names are Abelam, Baruya, Chambri and Fore.

The Māori arrived in New Zealand by canoe from eastern Polynesia 800 years ago, following the whales. The early Māori formed tribal groups based on eastern Polynesian customs and organisation.

Aboriginal Australians are one of the oldest living populations in the world and possibly the oldest outside Africa. Uluru, or Ayers Rock, found in central Australia is sacred to the Pitjantjatjara Anangu, the Aboriginal people of the area.
